Lipoma of the deep lobe of the parotid gland

Abstract

|
This case report describes a lipoma of the deep lobe of the parotid gland. Until the 1980s, there was no reliable means of making a preoperative diagnosis of the lipoma. Our experience indicates that magnetic resonance imagings permit
preoperative
diagnosis of the lipoma. Thereby, it was removed not by the parotidectomy, but by section of the superficial lobe of the parotid gland. 3 months after operation, function of the parotid gland was evaluated with scintigraphy.
